Drivetrain and 4×4 Repair

Technician inspecting a four-wheel-drive truck driveshaft and differential

The drivetrain carries power from the transmission to the wheels. Clunks, vibration, clicking in turns, leaks, binding, or a four-wheel-drive system that will not engage can come from several connected components.

Vibrance Automotive inspects the system and identifies the actual failure before recommending repair.

Problems we diagnose

  • Clicking or popping while turning
  • Clunks when accelerating, decelerating, or shifting direction
  • Vibration that changes with vehicle speed
  • Differential, axle, or transfer-case leaks
  • Grinding, humming, or bearing noise
  • Four-wheel drive that will not engage or disengage
  • Torn CV boots or damaged driveline components

What the inspection can include

We check the symptom under the conditions where it occurs, then inspect axles, CV joints, driveshafts, universal joints, mounts, bearings, differentials, transfer cases, fluid condition, and electronic controls where applicable. Tire and suspension problems can imitate drivetrain vibration, so they are separated before parts are selected.

Repair decisions based on use

A daily driver, work truck, lifted vehicle, and off-road vehicle place different demands on driveline angles, joints, gearing, and tires. We consider vehicle configuration and intended use when explaining repair options.

Related services include transmission repair, suspension and steering repair, wheel alignment, and lift-kit installation.
